Elena V. Barakhova, M.D.

Psychotherapist, EFT-therapist, art-therapist,

English/Russian translator

I received medical degree from I. M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy in 2009 and took postgraduate training in internal medicine and psychiatry. Started my career in internal medicine and cardiology. In psychotherapy field since 2012. Studied ericksonian therapy and hypnosis with Russian, American and European masters. Integrating in my practice ericksonian psychotherapy and hypnosis, art-therapy, emotionally focused therapy, breathing therapy, Buddhism psychology and different types of meditation, including mindfulness. Interested in effective methods of stress and emotions management, neuroplasticity and it’s role in psychotherapeutic process. Everything that I am offering to my clients I first tried on myself and found that it is working. My fluent English allows me to see clients in English and also to translate psychotherapeutic seminars of abroad colleagues.

My view of psychotherapeutic process is strategic, creative and tuned with goals of the client. Every session is individual, unique and is a result of a mutual creative process with client. I do not work with a problem. I work with a human, that is in front of me who met the problem on the path of growth. So, I work with all types of problem. The problem is, pretty often, a gift on the path of growth and change for the person. In the process of work problem becomes a solution and gains new meaning.

The atmosphere during sessions is filled with acceptance, kindness, humor and creativity, and it helps to relax and find enjoyment and fun in the process of change on the way to the goals.

In my opinion, medication is just a little part of the treatment and more often is not needed than needed. I keep studying and developing my expertise participating in conferences, seminars, intervision and supervision with colleagues. Assess my efficacy as a therapist using Scott Miller and Barry L. Duncan scales.
